Your first agent change

Connect your agent and take a change through review. Save the conversation and share the parts your reviewers need.

Start with a small change in an existing repository. This guide uses your local agent and Pillion’s Git compatibility.

Agent work brings saved conversations, task runs, and checkpoints together. Conversation capture does not start an agent task or grant permission to push.

1. Prepare a repository

  1. Sign in to Pillion. If you need access, join the waitlist.
  2. Open a repository you can change, or create your first repository.
  3. Clone the repository and open its local folder in your agent.

Your agent uses its existing model and execution settings. Choose those settings to match your organization’s processing requirements.

2. Connect your agent

Follow the Claude Code or Codex guide. Both connectors support macOS.

Approve capture for this repository, then ask the Pillion setup skill to check the connection. Check the account and repository before continuing.

3. Make and check a change

Create a branch for the work:

git switch -c improve-setup-guide

Give your agent a clear task. For example:

Improve the README setup instructions.
Check each command against the project configuration.
Show me the diff and any checks you run.

Review the diff and the check results. Keep separate working directories for parallel attempts.

4. Save the source and conversation

Commit the finished change, then push it to Pillion. Follow the everyday Git guide if you need the commands.

The connector uploads supported conversation records after Pillion confirms the pushed commit. Later messages stay local until another checkpoint or an explicit save.

  1. Open Agent work in the repository.
  2. Select your saved conversation.
  3. Inspect Capture details for missing or unsupported records.

If the conversation is missing, ask the Pillion skill for capture status. Keep the connector running while it retries pending uploads.

A successful source push does not confirm a successful conversation upload. Verify both before removing local work.

5. Open a pull request

Open Pull requests → New pull request. Select your branch and describe the change and its checks.

For a recorded Agent task, open the task in Agent work. Select Create pull request for its available source revision.

Opening a pull request makes its source available to repository readers. It does not share your private conversation.

6. Add context for review

  1. Open the saved conversation and select Share.
  2. Enter the pull request number and the first and last events.
  3. Review the selected content, then select Share selected events.
  4. Open the pull request’s Conversations panel to check the shared range.

Current repository collaborators can read the shared events. A public pull request does not make those events public.

Reviewers can inspect the diff, checks, and selected context together. Follow the repository’s review requirements before merging.

Read Conversations and review for sharing controls. Read Native version control for Changes and checkpoints.
